Macro Photography Workshop
General Course Information:
Using lecture and demonstrations, our instructors will guide through the amazing world of Macro Photography. This workshop begins with a lecture covering Macro Photography terminology and equipment which is followed by demonstrations including some in which students will participate in setting up the equipment and making the decisions regarding the camera settings. All of the demonstrations are shown live on a large screen you will be able to see the images and camera settings live as the photos are taken! Students do NOT need any macro photography equipment; however, students are encouraged to bring their cameras and any Macro Photography equipment they own. Each student will receive a printed copy of our Macro Photography study guide.
Course Topics Include:
- Classroom demonstrations.
- Recommended camera settings for Macro Photography.
- Macro Photography equipment and how to use it. What to use and if you are on a budget what inexpensive equipment will work. Yes, we will show you the expensive stuff too!
- Depth of Field as it applies to Macro Photography (both lecture and demonstration).
- Why accurate focus is more critical in Macro Photography and how to achieve it using both auto and manual focus modes.
- When to use Auto Focus, which Auto Focus mode to use and when to use Manual Focus.
- Students will receive some hands on experience by aiding the instructor in setting up equipment for many of the demonstrations.
- Students will also select the camera settings for many of the demonstrations and see the results in real time.
- Time permitting, students who bring their cameras will be able to take photos at the end of the class.

Course Requirements:
There are no requirements for attending this workshop but please read the following.
- A camera and / or Macro Photography equipment are NOT required but student should be aware that this workshop is geared toward dSLR and mirrorless cameras with interchangeable lenses.
- Students who have a camera and / or macro photography equipment should bring their camera and at least one lens.
- Students who have a tripod, external flash and / or any macro equipment are welcome to bring as well. Time permitting, the instructor field questions about your specific equipment.
- A basic knowledge of Exposure, Auto and manual Focus as well as Depth of Field is helpful but not required.
